Compare the Castle Panic 2nd Edition Promo Pack and the Promo Tower Teal 1st Edition to see exactly what each promo adds, what they cost, and which one fits your table.
Quick answer
If you own Castle Panic 2nd Edition, the 2nd Edition Promo Pack gives you six promo cards for $15.00, saving $5 over buying each card individually. If you own the 1st Edition, the Promo Tower Teal 1st Edition is the only one of these two promos that matches your edition, and it costs $3.55. A promo like the Promo Tower Teal adds one small twist; a full expansion such as The Wizard's Tower Second Edition adds a new board, enemies, and spells, so it changes the game far more.
What each promo actually contains
The Castle Panic 2nd Edition Promo Pack is a bundle of six promo cards: All For One, Any Color Hero, Feather, Fickle Fortune, Crossbow (for use in The Wizard's Tower), and Jury-Rig (for use in Engines of War). Two of those cards only function if you own the matching expansion, so the pack is most useful to players who already have The Wizard's Tower or Engines of War and want to use every card. The Promo Tower Teal 1st Edition is a single promo tower card that lets the team draw cards and trade when it is destroyed. It is labeled as the 2017 International TableTop Day Tower and was created with Geek & Sundry. That is the entire promo: one tower, one effect.
Cost per card and edition fit
At $15.00, the 2nd Edition Promo Pack works out to $2.50 per card, and the catalog comparison price of $25.00 shows the $5 saving you get over buying each card individually. The Promo Tower Teal 1st Edition is $3.55, with a catalog comparison price of $5.00. The bigger difference is edition compatibility: the Promo Tower Teal comes in two versions, one for each edition of Castle Panic. The 1st Edition version is labeled as the 2017 International TableTop Day Tower. The 2nd Edition version shows a Fireside Games logo over a teal color banner. Buying the wrong version means the card will not match the edition you play.
Where these promos sit next to a full expansion
A promo pack is not the same as an expansion. The Wizard's Tower Second Edition is a full expansion that adds the friendly Wizard Thalgar, magic spells, and powerful new enemies, and it requires Castle Panic to play. It is not a stand-alone game. The 2nd Edition Promo Pack and the Promo Tower Teal are small add-ons: they tweak a turn or add a card without changing the core board or enemy mix. If you want a different game night, an expansion does that. If you want a small surprise for players who already know Castle Panic well, a promo does that.
Replacement cards are a separate purchase
Promo packs are not the same as replacement pieces. The Wizard's Tower Castle and Wizard Cards set is a shrink-wrapped replacement deck for The Wizard's Tower, containing 10 Castle Cards and 22 Wizard Cards. It is for players whose existing cards are worn out, not for players looking to add new content. If your promo cards are fine but your expansion cards are damaged, this is the product to buy. If you want new effects, buy a promo pack or an expansion instead.
Promo pack vs. expansion trade-offs
- 2nd Edition Promo Pack: six cards, expansion-gated: You get six promo cards for $15.00 and save $5 over buying them individually, but Crossbow only works in The Wizard's Tower and Jury-Rig only works in Engines of War. Best value if you own at least one of those expansions and play 2nd Edition.
- Promo Tower Teal 1st Edition: one card, edition-locked: It adds a single tower that lets the team draw cards and trade when destroyed, and it only matches 1st Edition. The 2nd Edition version has different branding. Buy only if your Castle Panic set is 1st Edition and you want a small promo effect.
- The Wizard's Tower Second Edition: full expansion, higher commitment: It adds Wizard Thalgar, spells, and new enemies, but it requires Castle Panic to play and costs $22.46 in the catalog. Choose this when you want a new way to play, not just a promo card.
Promo and expansion facts compared
- Castle Panic 2nd Edition Promo Pack: The Castle Panic 2nd Edition Promo Pack contains 6 promo cards: All For One, Any Color Hero, Feather, Fickle Fortune, Crossbow (for use in The Wizard's Tower), and Jury-Rig (for use in Engines of War). Two of the six cards require a specific expansion, so the pack's full value depends on which expansions you already own.
- Promo Tower Teal - 1st Edition: The Promo Tower Teal 1st Edition is a single promo tower card that lets the team draw cards and trade when it is destroyed. It is labeled as the 2017 International TableTop Day Tower and was created with Geek & Sundry. It is a one-card promo with a single effect, so it is a light add-on rather than a full expansion.
- Castle Panic: The Wizard's Tower Second Edition: Castle Panic: The Wizard's Tower Second Edition is an expansion that requires Castle Panic to play and is not a stand-alone game. It adds the friendly Wizard Thalgar, magic spells, and powerful new enemies. This is the larger purchase if you want new gameplay systems rather than a small promo twist.
Which one fits your table?
Best for
- Players who own Castle Panic 2nd Edition and want six promo cards at a bundle discount.
- Players who already own The Wizard's Tower or Engines of War and can use every card in the 2nd Edition Promo Pack.
- 1st Edition owners who want a single, low-cost promo tower that matches their edition.
Not for

- 2nd Edition owners looking at the Promo Tower Teal 1st Edition, because the card is labeled for 1st Edition.
- Players who want a full new gameplay system, who should choose The Wizard's Tower Second Edition instead.
